Day 11- Sep. 13- Ard Glas, Letterkenny, Donegal co.

The morning of day 11 of our trip dawned cold and rainy. We would be traveling the 4 hours from Galway up to Letterkenny in county Donegal. Letterkenny is right by northern Ireland's border. Since the north is part of the UK, we would have to use pounds instead of euros. We had all decided it would be much easier not to make any purchases while we were "up north."

We had all wanted to see Sligo, as we'd heard it was very pretty. Even though it was just a drive through glimpse, we enjoyed it.

Backwards?
It looks like the deer antlers are put on backwards in Ireland too! :)

Village

Ridge

Driving... driving... driving...
... did I say driving?

Sheep?
When we first spotted these, we thought they were sheep. On closer inspection, though, they turned out to be covered hay bales!

Golden Arches
After arriving at our B&B, Ard Glas, we were very hungry. This was the closest thing to authentic Irish food that we could get without walking into a pub... :)

Steeple
A beautiful church in or near Letterkenny.

Ard Glas B&B
All the pictures with the yellow letters on them are from Gram. Thanks, Gram!

Triple Room
This was our room. Those are Mom and Abi's twin beds.

My bed... :)
... and the bathroom door. :)

Behind Bars
The beautiful garden at Ard Glas, not to mention the still weepy and gloomy sky.

Relaxing
I think that this B&B was by far the coldest out of all of them. The carpets, tile, furniture and curtains were all old, but everything was very clean.

After supper we had a face time with the family. After not seeing them for so long, that little chat with them was so sweet! Thank you, Kelsey, for taking such good care of them! You're a gem!

After a very quiet and relaxing afternoon and evening, we went to bed looking forward to seeing the long awaited sight of the Dark Hedges and the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland on the morrow.
